[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] your love falls down on me surrounds me like a waterfall growing up, hannah had always dreamed about living in the city. all the excitement, the hustle and bustle, the streets teeming with people, everything that she didn't have as a child. as a foster kid, getting moved from place to place, she never once lived in a city that could be considered a city. most of the places she lived in were small towns, with populations of less than ten thousand, where everyone seemed to know everyone and all their business. that type of lifestyle had never been appealing to hannah. she'd always felt like an outsider everywhere she went. always the new kid, always the outcast, she'd never really fit in anywhere. but all that changed when she came to miami. in this city, no one walked down the street and looked at you funny because they didn't know who you were, in fact, most people didn't know anyone that they passed. and hannah liked that anonymity. and she lived right in the middle of it. taking the elevator up to the twelfth floor where her apartment was, she smiled a polite smile at the other people. having lived in the same building for the past two years, she knew maybe five of her neighbors, and only two of them by name. she had never been an outgoing person, figuring if people wanted to get to know her, they could put forth the effort. it wasn't a good way to make friends, but friends were never something that hannah really worried about having. sure, she had friends, a fair amount of them, but she wasn't the type of person to stay up at night worrying about whether or not someone liked her. she was who she was, and that was good enough for her.
getting off the elevator, she smiled politely once again at the nameless faces that she passed as she walked to the door to the apartment. now, this wasn't just hannah's apartment. no, hannah lived with her boyfriend, well, now fiance, and had for the past year and a half. having recently gotten engaged, hannah was riding high on the waves of happiness, and there was very little that could get her to come down. after all, she was in love, and someone was in love with her. she used to dream about having a life like she did, but never thinking that it would actually come to pass. a wonderful job, a wonderful apartment, a wonderful fiance, everything seemed to be falling right for her lately. but there was that still small voice in the back of her head, nagging her that something wasn't right. telling her that this was too perfect to be true, that something was wrong. shutting the voice out, she'd try to ignore the fact that she felt like things were going to well, and just except them, but it made her feel guilty. like she was keeping secrets, like there was something important going on that she was keeping to herself. in reality though, it was her insecurities telling her she wasn't good enough, that while things might be going well at the moment, she was going to mess them up, and ruin not only her own life, but luke's as well. reaching the door, she put the key in the lock and the door knob, effectively opening the door to their apartment. walking in, she shut the door behind her and set her purse on the kitchen counter. "luke," she called, unsure if he was there or not, but hoping he was "i'm home." words: 595 - notes: hope it's okay (: - outfit: link |

it was a task that should have taken a couple of hours at most but had suddenly mutated into an epic job that had eaten into most if his day. Lucas stared at the screen of his macbook, clueless and frustrated. He was reviewing a set of photographs that were the product of a shoot the previous dat and he was unhappy with all of them. At the risk of sounding pretentious, which was something Lucas was anything but, he knew that it was nothing he had done personally. There were no faults with the angles, the lighting or the backdrop that could be pinned as the source of the problem. They could have easily been fixed in Photoshop anyway. It was the subject of these images that was causing the dilemma. He had been asked by a magazine to take pictures of a skinny blonde girl who he had been told was "the next big thing in fashion". he didn't know who had given the girl such a title but he quickly disagreed. She was stereotypically pretty, yes, with Blake Lively hair and a Georgia Jagger gap in her front teeth, but there was absolutely no charisma about her. She was stiff, boring, and didn't seem to know any more than the same three poses she used for most of the shoot. he had tried to direct her with little success. it was something that he had never encountered before, but he knew that he was likely to face more than once throughout his career and he had to learn how to overcome it. "'Don't be a photographer', they said." Luke mumbled to himself as he rubbed his eyes. "'It's a mistake', they said." He genuinely loved his job and felt blessed to be able to make money from his photography, but he couldn't help thinking about what his parents had told him whenever he came up against even the smallest of obstacles. They had done little to hide their disagreement with their son's desired career path. They were supportive of their son's work, but had always hoped that he would be destined to become a doctor or a layer, "something a little more... stable," as they had tried to explain to him at the time. This was several years ago now, before he had even started college, but the words had stayed with him for all that time.
Lucas lifted the Macbook from his lap and placed in front of him on the bed, where he had been sitting in various positions throughout the day as if it would help his concentration. by now he was just more bored than frustrated, sick of seeing this girl's expressionless face on his screen. any longer and he felt like he would just send the whole folder to the magazine's editor so they could to the hard work for him. with a swift click the window was minimized. finally, luke had been relieved of the awful burden, at least for now. now the deed was done, he wished he had given up hours ago, but he knew that it would have lurked in the back of his mind anyway. at least he could say he had tried. he reached out to close the lid of the laptop but paused, smiling gently as he looked at the picture of himself and Hannah he had set as his desktop image. it had been taken when she was still his girlfriend and he was her boyfriend. luke was still coming to terms with their engagement, despite being the one who had proposed, he couldn't believe it. she was his fiancèe. he had just started his senior year of college when he helped her move in to her apartment. he didn't think for a second that they would be getting married one day. it was then that he heard the apartment door close and that ever familiar voice call out his name. the laptop was closed, left on the bed as he stood up and walked out of the room. another smile automatically spread across his face as he saw Hannah standing there. she made him unbelievably happy, and he genuinely hoped tha she felt the same about him. she had accepted his proposal, so he must have done something right. "I'm certainly glad to see you," he said, wrapping his arms around her. "How was your day?" He bent his head slightly to rest his forehead against hers, looking into her eyes and hoping that the answer was better than his.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] your love falls down on me surrounds me like a waterfall hannah couldn't help but smile when she saw luke come out of the bedroom. he was the only person in the world, who no matter how unhappy she was or how bad a day she was having, could always make her smile. that was what had made her fall in love with him. friends were never something that hannah had many of, and people who genuinely made her smile were even fewer still. but since that first day, luke had always managed to be the one person that did. he just made her incredibly happy, and she couldn't imagine her life without him, nor would she want to. everything seemed so much easier when she was with him. it was like there was nothing she couldn't do when he was around, he made her feel safe, and she loved the feeling. all of her fears seemed to melt away when they were together, and life was just good. hannah's smile only deepened when luke wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her forehead, asking about her day. she wrapped her arms around him in turn and looked lovingly into his chocolate brown eyes. "i'm glad to see you too," she said, meaning it completely.
"my day was good, pretty average" she said in response to his question. it had been an average day at work for her. she mostly did paperwork and didn't deal directly with the families or the children, doing what the people who were working with the actual people didn't have time to do. she enjoyed it a good deal though, and liked being able to make a contribution without actually having to interact with a bunch of people she didn't know. meeting with foster families like the ones that she had made her feel like a scared little kid again, but she was glad to not have to deal with that sort of thing and just use her time in other areas. "but it's so much better now." tilting her head, she kissed him on the lips. her heart raced and her stomach felt like it was filled with butterflies whenever she kissed luke, like a teenager on her first date, that feeling of anxiousness mingled with adrenaline and pure joy when the night ends in a first kiss. hannah loved this feeling, it was like he was her own special drug. pulling her lips away from his, she smiled and looked down at the floor, gripped with the momentary shyness that seemed to strike her whenever she initiated physical contact. "so how was your day?" she asked, returning her gaze to his eyes, curious as to whether or not his day had been good. words: 452 - notes: sorry it's short and took so long, my muse is blah today :/ - outfit: link |
